Some of the crimes committed in cyberspace is often utilize a gap in one browser, not just pieces of Internet Explorer (IE). Even Microsoft's browser is also mentioned as a favorite tool of hackers.
It's pretty much undeniable cyber criminals who try to take advantage of the existing gaps in IE, let's call it one of the IE component which is always the 'meal' crackers, ActiveX.
By leveraging the sophistication of ActiveX, the offender may be seeping into the victim machine without the user or detected by some security applications. This method was quite often used for data theft.
But now Microsoft claims, IE8 is more secure than previous versions, "in IE8, the use of ActiveX is limited and directly related to user accounts that are safer," explained Tony Seno Hartono, National Technology Officer of Microsoft Indonesia.
In addition to restrictions on ActiveX, IE8 also said to be safer to surf the internet thanks to such features, SmartScreen Filter, InPrivate Browsing, Click-jacking prevention, and others.
"Thanks to the many new features embedded, IE8 now far more secure than previous versions," added Tony at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Wednesday (17/2/2010). But surely, no one else's browser is perfectly safe if not accompanied by awareness of its users.
