Beat the BlackBerry and the iPhone, Symbian OS Number One in the World

Research In Motion (RIM) with her Blackberry cell phone may be popular in 2009.So does Apple's iPhone. However, from the operating system (OS) smart phones, Symbian remains the number one.



"Smartphone sales soaring in the fourth quarter of 2009, with 53.8 million units, up by 41.4 percent in the same period in 2008," said Carolina Milanesi, Research Director, Gartner.

Milanesi also commented that the vendors who focus on land smartphones like Apple and Research in Motion menangguk great success compared to other mobile vendors, they controlled 14.4% and 19.9% of the world smartphone market.

Data-selling smartphone OS 2009 was issued by the research institute Gartner. According to Gartner, although down 5.4%, Symbian OS is still the most popular with 46.9% market share.

Apparently, the movement to open source Symbian and the Symbian introduces strategies ^ 3 in the first quarter of 2010 was the right step.

While on the other hand, Android OS is seen as the fastest growing. In 2008, Android has only 0.5% market share and are now straight to number 3.9%.

Meanwhile, the iPhone also experienced a drastic increase from 8.2% to 14.4%. With the surge, the iPhone is now in third place after Symbian and RIM.

1. Symbian - 46,9%

3. iPhone OS - 14,4%


4. Windows Mobile - 8,7%


5. Linux - 4,7%


6. Android - 3,9%


7. WebOS - 0,7%
